How to Become a Church Planter

How to Apply to be a Church Planter in the UMR

  1. Interested Church Planters should contact Regional Minister, Dr Tim Blackburn, to share their interest and vision for planting a church within the UMR. (630-495-2000 x 286 or Email Tim)

  2. Ideally the Church Planter will work with a local church in the Region that has a vision for church planting. With the church's affirmation of the Planter and the identification of a specific plant location, the church and planter will share their vision with the UMR Church Multiplication Movement (CM2) Team. The UMR CM2 Team may also look at other multiplication strategies from prospective planters as appropriate.

  3. The Church Planter presents a formal proposal for the plant to the CM2 Team. (See link for instructions to develop a church planting proposal.)

  4. The Regional Minister and/or a member of the CM2 Team facilitates a meeting where the Church Planter will present their proposal to the UMR pastors of the local area for information and affirmation.

  5. After reviewing the proposal, the Personal Development Profile of the Church Planter, and feedback from area pastors, a decision will be made by the UMR Regional Leadership Team.

  6. Once approved, the Church Planter will be authorized to proceed, with the CM2 Team's support and partnership.
